Moskova’da 1520 tarihinde tamamen taştan yapılan ilk çarşı, 1812 Borodino Savaşı sonrası Napolyon’un Moskova’yı işgali esnasında topçular tarafından yıkılmıştır. Bugünkü yapı ise bir Rus mimarının 1890-93 arasında yaptığı binadır. Yeni inşaat aynı zamanda gerçekleştirilen ilk Neo-Rus mimari tarzı olarak kabul edilir. İnşaat’ta ilk defa çelik konstrüksiyondan yapılan taş duvarlar ve merkezi ısıtma sistemi kullanılmıştır. 1917 Bolşevik ihtilalinden sonra devletleştirilip, Stalin’in karargahı olmuş ve adı “Gasudarstvinny Universalniy Magazin” diye değiştirilmiştir. Soho House Istanbul | Palazzo Corpi

In 1873, Ignazio Corpi, a powerful Genoese shipbuilder in what was then known as the European quarter of Constantinople, commissioned a palatial residence bearing his family’s name. He engaged Italian architect Giacomo Leoni, who set about importing marble from Carrara for the flooring and facings and Piemonte rosewood for the doors and window frames. Famous artists of the day were invited to create the wall paintings depicting Greek mythological scenes in the entrance hall and on the ceilings of the Great Hall. The building took nine years in total to complete. Following Iganzio’s death, his nephews leased the building to the American ambassador, John G.A. Leishman. From 1906, it served as the U.S. embassy and residence, and then the US consulate general from 1937 to 2003. In 2014, Soho House began extensive restoration work on the Palazzo, returning it to its former glory. Perched atop the prestigious Cheongdam-dong in the Gangnam district, Louis Vuitton’s new Maison in Seoul marks Frank Gehry’s first creation in South Korea. Based on the existing site of the original Louis Vuitton store, this new Maison is a celebration of the strong connection between Louis Vuitton and Korean culture. In imagining his design, Frank Gehry chose to reference not only the shape of the existing Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, but was also inspired by elements of historical Korean architecture such as the Hwaseong Fortress, dating back to the 18th century, as well as the swooping movements and white costumes of the Dongnae Hakchum (crane dance). The Building When describing 152 Elizabeth, Tadao Ando felt that along with embracing Manhattan, it was a paramount for the building to create a sort of sanctuary apart from it. According to Ando, “A home has to be a place where you can reflect on your life. This project is about that. When you come home, 152 Elizabeth should give a quiet feeling. I have to make something that touches human hearts and leaves a feeling inside of them” . In regards to the building, Ando speaks about 152 Elizabeth being made of “20th-century materials” — concrete, iron, and glass. For a building to truly work, Ando believes there has to be a balance of its elements — not just between the light and the shadow, but also between the water, the greenery, the steel, and the glass.
